| If you've never had a professional massage done before, please GET ONE!! I just got back from my half hour deep tissue and I hadn't had one in years. It was something I truly needed, I have to go back next week cause that half hour wasn't even enough time to work out everything that needed to be worked out. I'm telling you, it's pure heaven. | |

| Where'd you get yours done at? How are the prices/rates? I always wanted a professional massage, but wasn't completely sure where to get a good one. I know a few rinky dink people who CLAIM to give messages, but I don't really want to bother with them because they seemed either too sleazy or cheap. | |

You'd really want a professional. None of that going to get your nails done and then get some bullshit massage afterwards. Don't even bother with a nail salon or anyplace that says we do nails, hair, wax and massage. Google it, look for a massage therapist in your area. Make sure it's a licensed massage therapist....there is a difference and a true professional will display the license in the parlor. A perfect place would be a spa/day spa for you to go to, but they can be quite expensive. I'm talking $100 and up for an half hour and up depending on where you go and what you get. And I've been to spas where the masseuse isn't very attentive and just basically go through the motions with you. The place I went to.....the massage therapist and his wife own a parlor and they have a staff of like 4 masseuses. Really small, really intimate.....it's set up like a house. Four different rooms with candles, soft music, and all that good stuff.....soft, warm colors, a great decor. I paid $40 for an half-hour deep tissue and that's a pretty decent price....$80 would be for the entire hour. So anything in that range by a licensed professional would be a good price. You can get different massages and they are priced accordingly....some cheaper, some more expensive....a deep tissue is on the end of the more expensive. But like I said, look it up, find out what type of massage you want to get and find a place that's in your price range. More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, usually it means all you're doing is paying for someone's overhead. GET ONE!! If you have any kind of stress or tension going on, please get one. You will NOT regret it and they are truly worth the money.

| I have never had one. I used to go to a spa, but ironically never bothered to get a massage. The older I get, the more stiff my neck and back are becoming, so I am in the market for a good massage. | |

| Years ago when I took a trip to CocoCay, I had a massage at the hotel I stayed at and it was one of the most exhilarating feelings I ever experienced. They're too expensive for me to get on a regular basis, but if anyone ever comes into a frivolous $75-$110, I would strongly recommend them to set it aside for a good professional massage. | |

| Whenever someone tries to give me a bootleg shoulder massage, it hurts (then they give me a ghetto diagnosis about it being "stress".) Guess I bought into it because I always imagined a professional massage would be painful. | |

| I love massage and usually get the hour-long "Swedish" full body massage. However, it is a rare treat to afford, going rate about $80 to $100.
I am an amateur (not licensed) massage therapist and have done volunteer work on an AIDS hospital unit and nursing homes. Even participated as a therapist in a study about the benefit of massage on ppl with AIDS. It does raise serotonin levels which are beneficial in healing. We knew that intuitively but the study bloodwork quantified it.
Been practicing massage since the '70s when we counter-culture types got into all sorts of explorations.
The Art of Sensual Massage (1972) is the bible for those who want to give real massage to an intimate partner. I use massage as a prelude to my lovemaking - really relaxes the moment and allows you to explore your partners bod intimately.

| Never had one. Every time I think of the massage table and being naked under the towel, I automatically envision porn storylines.
Hmmmm. Maybe I'll get one one of these days.

| I've never had a massage, I've never been interested in them. I don't want some stranger touching me, particularly if I'm half-naked! | |

| Never had a real, deep, professional massage. Torn on feeling like they could be bliss and feeling uncomfortable about random hands touching all over me practically naked like MandyPerfumeGirl said. | |

| When you guys get a professional massage, you're going to hate the fact that you didn't do it sooner. Massages really do contribute to your overall health. And some 'strange' person touching you isn't really any different that a doctor would be touching you if he/she was examining you. And you don't have to be half naked. You can wear a tank top if it's that important and unless you're getting a full body massage, you leave your pants on. It's a totally private and professional setting. | |

A deep tissue one can be painful. But usually it's because your body is so full of knots that that's what it takes for them to really be worked out. You'll be in heaven afterwards though.

I've been going to a chiropractor regularly for a number of years. Great guy. How great? A while back I asked him if massages were worth while and he highly recommended a local message therapist. I never got around to calling her and sometime later he asked if I ever called. I told him no, I hadn’t gotten around to it and continued to forget about it until a short time after that I come home from work and my wife tells me, “Cindy called.” Hamana-hamana-hamana-hamana. Honey, I don’t know any Cindy. My wife told me Cindy said Dr. Campbell had paid for a session for me. Well bless his heart. I called and made an appointment figuring it was just an “introductory” offer but it was over an hour. I went fairly regularly for a couple of years but our schedules changed and money got a little tight for a while so I haven’t been back recently but I’m with NY. I concur on the rates too. About $80 for an hour.

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll get one one of these days. There is a thin line between a massage done by a "professional" and a professionally done massage with benefits! You just got to go to the right place.

| I'm really jealous of you that you love it so much! My best friend is a LMT so I've had a lot of massages. Plus I won a pregnancy massage at a spa when I was pregnant...But I don't care for them I keep hoping that I will one day love them, but I'm too tense the whole time. I just can't relax and I tense against every thing they do and it hurts. I go to the chiropractor though and that works for me. I'm glad you feel better! | |
