I don't think I'd respect the actual couple less, but I'd probably have my reservations about their families. You can't choose who you're going to fall in love with, nor can you rightfully force someone else to, either. But, too, some arranged marraiges take into account an attraction-factor between the couple in question, though ultimately they are done for money and social status purposes. So overall, I'd say that I think families that observe that practice should get with the modern times already, butt the hell out, and let their children/relatives choose their own mates. Some of these countries that operate on arranged marriages might be happier places if they allowed people to pick their own partners--seems to me that a lot of that goes on in places in the world where there's much unrest, such as the Middle East, African nations, etc.

The families, yeah. Granted a lot of people sure as hell pick the WRONG person to marry but still that's supposed to be THEIR choice to make.

I wouldn't disrespect the couples themelves, but I don't respect the practice/tradition. Everybody should pick their own mate.

Not really in the end they don't have to stay married if they really don't want to.

I don't know about less respect but I do wonder what the hell is wrong with them to allow it.

With some it's the tradition of their cultures, and traditions are hard to break but this IS the 21st century, we're supposed to be revolutionized and liberated and all that crap by now.

In this day and age it's very archaic for families to be arranging marriages for their offspring, but in the end those offspring have the choice to fall in line with the outdated practice or to not.

Umm, no. You as an individual can choose whether or not you will go along with it or not. I think it's more of a personal decision nowadays than a traditional one.
