With the holiday season rapidly approaching, I was just wondering – do you ever work on holidays?

Except for direct care staff who, like nurses and medical staff, our facility gets most holidays off. However, when I went to a 4-day week, getting every Friday off, I just don't get paid for the holidays that fall on Fridays.

I have been in jobs that required working holidays, usually with extra pay. Didn't bother me.

Yes I do most of the time, my job doesn't close for the holidays... actually we never close. If the holidays so happen to fall on one my days off, GREAT!! If it doesn't, then I don't mind working.

Despite popular belief, postal workers DO work holidays. It took me 6yrs to get christmas day off. and after 14 yrs I still get forced in on thanksgiving. As a junior employee, one is forced to work over 60 hours each of the 10 holiday weeks, being required to work at least 6days during the holiday week, including 3 twelve hour days which must consist of the holiday itself and the two days prior. So yes, for years Dec 23,24,25 I worked 12 hrs in addition to working another 3 days that week. I had to do the same for Dec 30,30 jan 1.

As a junior employee you do not get "holiday" pay which sucks... when you gain seniority you gain holiday pay and can volunteer to work holidays.

Hospitals never close--I've never not worked holidays, no matter which one it is, which shift it is.

Have had to before. I usually try to avoid it, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Luckily my current job is closed for most holidays.
