Are you comfortable with women in service jobs that usually employ men? In other words; if a woman showed up to fix your plumbing, to do construction work on your house, or was the one who was going to work on your cars transmission when you take it to a mechanic, would you be as comfortable with the situation as you would if it were a man doing these things?

Sure why not? She would not be in the profession if she didn't know what she was doing.

I'm no hater, and won't demand a man over a woman, but sometimes with certain projects I'd rather she be a he.

Yeah. I know a lot about certain male dominated hobbies or interests.....and I'm sure I'm not the only woman that does.

As long as she knew what she was doing. Same requirement for a man.

We used to have a female building inspector who went through a horrible time with the contractors when she first started (before I was hired). A few even threatened her. But she was good and held her job for several years. I think her super-easygoing personality made the bastards even angrier because she would't play that game.

Basically. I remember one time I was having computer trouble and called the cable company and got a female service tech. and immediately thought to myself that she wasn't gonna know what she was talking about...and she didn't. After a half hour of aimless trouble shooting, I finally hung up with her with the problem unresolved. An hour later I called back and got a man, and within 5 minutes the issue was fixed. Don't get me wrong, some female know what they were doing and are able to help....but it seems like whenever I come across somebody who doesn't know what they're talking about when it comes to these types of jobs, it more likely a female than a male.

It's a shame that she was treated like that and good for her not feeling she had to become an uber-bitch (although it sounds like she would have been justified). I hope she reported the assholes that threatened her. Did they really think that was the way to get their CO? My wife works in the male dominated truck repair business as a warranty administrator.
