No, I waited until the day I turned 21. My sister bought me a bottle of champagne 3 months earlier though and I kept it stored away. And when I presented it on the big day, I get the alcoholic's lecture 'hiding things eh? That's what alcoholics do'. It never occurred to my family that if that WERE the case, that bottle would NOT have stayed sealed and gift wrapped for 3 months.

When I was a nerdy teen I used to play around with making mead and wine and home brew beer.
Once coming back to St. Louis on the City of New Orleans, one of my dad's old drinking buddies and I sat in the club car drinking beer. I was 16 and they didn't question my age on fed property back then. I got a little tipsy on that one.
On graduation night I ended up at a party with bottles of booze on the kitchen table. I sampled everything str8 and got really wasted, which is why I think it would be better to let adolescents drink in moderation under home supervision so it is not such a big deal when they are legally allowed to get booze.

Only a few times when I got to college. But I was so used to partying sober, I didn't understand why anybody would want to get drunk.
