If you have any children, or ever had to take care of any, do you (or did you) discipline them in a manner that was similar to your parents methods? If you don't have any children, can you imagine that you would take a page out of your parents book in that regard?

No, never beat a kid with a belt. But, did smack my nephew on the but once to make him go take a bath which he was refusing to do. That's all he wanted was to see that the big guy would and could set limits.

My parents did a pretty good job and I would mirror their style a little bit but I know that I wouldnt be as lenient as they were. I would be more strict.

Once I figured out the parenting process which took a while because there wasn't much of a template, my way is far better.

I never beat my daughter so there's the main difference. She turned out just fine.

I can't see myself whooping my kids, since I frequently got them for no reason.

No I would not discipline them like my parents did.
