    It happens less now than it did a decade ago because jobs just are not there. But even so, I know a couple job hoppers. They bug me. I don't know why.

    I just feel like, select something and stick with it...Granted, not all situations are going to work out indefinitely, but one can always spot a job hopper.

    LOL, I used to do it. I have friend who did it big time. He chased nothing but the money.

    When I think of a job hopper, I don't think about people chasing money. I see it as just getting bored quick and moving on.

    If you do it when young, that's one thing. But in your 40's....not cool to me.

    Well, he got bored too. More money at a new gig was all the incentive he needed to leave. But now that he's just gotten his master's....perhaps his career choices will be a little more stable now.

    First husband was like that. He was usually fired but sometimes he quit. No sense of responsibility in that one, which was one was one of the major contributors to our divorce.

    When I was young and front line jobs were always plentiful, I jumped around a lot. Worked, saved money and took off somewhere.

    Now, I am stuck in a job that I have had for 12 years and feel it is my last place of employment.

    However, I have enjoyed the experience of doing different things:

    I can't think of anyone I know (or knew) who was a member of the Job of the Month club. In my present career I only left one job on my own accord. Every other time it was because I was laid of for lack of work. For the company, not me Wink .

    My jobs:

    Bradlees
    mom & pop pharmacy (taken over by Eckerd drugs)
    JCPenney
    My family's Auto body shop
    Rapidforms (call center for a printing company)
    Post Office

    until the post office, i pretty much changed jobs every 18months... but i got to the PO when i was 24yrs old. so been there ever since.

    i do get to jump around within the building now...

    but mainly my problem was my attitude.


    At bradlees, i was being harassed by a security guard---mgt did nothing
    At Eckerd, they gave my promotion to someone else, then offered me the same position they gave away but in a store 50 miles away
    I left JCPenney cause my family needed me
    I left the family cause i got tired of driving to Philadelphia
    I left Rapidforms when my grandfather died and they gave me shit for taking 2days off for the funeral--- PLUS they offered me a promotion, then rescinded it for taking off for the funeral

    then i wound up at PO

    Between quitting on the spur of the moment, or getting fired, or being offered better offers on a whim, etc. etc., up until I was in my middle 20's, I used to do it myself.
