If you're a parent, do you use any parental control codes to block your kids from seeing certain channels? If have no children, do you think it would be something that you would use if you did?

I don't think it would be something I'd do if I had kids. Our parents didn't need it with us, they knew there were only certain channels appropriate for us to watch and until we got a TV in our own rooms we really never tried turning to the other ones, and there were a lot MORE things worth watching when we were kids than there are now that would involve channel surfing.

Nah, I wouldn't. Kids are capable of bypassing any controls anyhow.

When I was a kid in the paper only age, my buddy and I would steal Playboys from the newstand on our way home from school (this was when Playboy didn't even show pubic hair).

I have had erotic books and magazines (Playboy and Playgirl in later years when they did show pubic hair and erections on the guys) with a teen daughter in the house. IDK if she ever took an interest in them - it was her private thing if she did.

i agree with shale.. kids get around them.

when i was a kid, the cable boxes came with turn keys that you would remove... you needed to unlock the box in order to watch the playboy channel. we picked the lock with paper clips. smh.

what is more terrifying than anything they show on tv (cause lets face it.. most is soft porn anyway)... its the internet predators out there. I was online WAY before the internet.. and as i was looking thru my old photo albums i found letters and pics of men that i met online and became pen pals with... WHY would a 25yr guy in the USAF want to have a 12yr old girl as a pen pal??? it wasnt like he was deployed and i was sending him care packages... he was truly talking all kinds of "we can be happy together" type of stuff. There were other letters and pics from other guys... its now scary to think that i gave complete strangers my address... pedophiles that could have shown up at any time. smh
