How do you feel about parents who have their toddlers on a "baby leash" when they're out and about for the sake of keeping up with them?

An actual leash? IDK With everyone having to worry about their kid being taken, it's not too hard to get the idea of keeping your kid by your side at all times. I see the issues with it but I am not totally unable to get the reasons behind it.

I haven't seen anyone do this in years but it's demeaning to have a leash tied to a kids back, like a dog.
If you can't keep up with your kids in public, then leave them with a sitter. Don't lead a 3 year old around on a rope.

I haven't actually seen that in years - lol. Didn't know they were still around, though some kids I've seen should be tied up like that. I've almost complained to the manager a couple of times when parents have let kids run totally wild in the store, running around, knocking into people, rolling on the floor, and so forth. Kids like that should not be brought out in public until they can behave.

I think there may be less radical ones that just goes around the kid's hand.

I actually have seen it more lately than I did years ago. I don't know how I feel. This is really me generalizing, but I think that a good parent would not need one. But if a parent has, say, a five and six year old to keep watch of, plus a two or three year old, maybe it is a good thing to make sure that attention is never diverted.

I have used one with my son, but only a couple times. And the reason was, when he was just walking, I tried to save some money by doing stuff around our apt. complex. So, when I was weeding, I put one end on him and another on my ankle. I only did that for about two months. It wasn't worth what it saved me in rent.

It's weird to see but if someone has a small child who is a wanderer or if they're going to be in an area with thick crowds, then I can understand the reason behind it. I mean yes it looks silly and demeaning, but safety first.
