Today when I was in the drive thru at Long John Silver, there was this group of what looked like preteens, riding and jumping over their skateboards. As I slowly started to pull up, they don't move until I blow my horn, and even then they only sluggishly got out of my way. I'm thinking, were they trying to get hit? I understand kids being kids, and having fun, but what's your opinion of kids skateboarding on the sidewalk? A lot of businesses actually have signs in their parking lot saying "no skateboarding."

As long as they stay off my lawn :x
But seriously no that's not an appropriate place. Sidewalks are the transportation highway for people who are walking. Parking lots, especially when the place is open for business are for the customers to park AND walk without having to dodge kids trying out their latest stunt. A restaurant drive thru is just ridiculous.

Re: Kids skateboarding on sidewalks.
I used to work at a place that had some low concrete walls next to some steps. They became an attractive nuisance to some of the local adolescent skateboarders. The boss wound up attaching “bumps” as a deterrent. They’re bad enough on public property but at least you can sue them if they knock you down and break your leg. If they injure themselves on your property they’ll own your ass. Young punks...they hit their baseball into my yard and I'm keeping it!!!

If I hit one of them and they weren't supposed to be there, I'd keep going.

It is stupid, and dangerous for them to be in places that they are not allowed.
One thing I LOVE about my local YMCA is that they recognized this problem and built ramps for the kids. Way cool.

Skateboarding is not a crime!
haha, remember those stickers from the 80's?
Anyway, I don't think that's a safe place for them to skate. I wouldn't let my kids do that for sure!

Re: Kids skateboarding on sidewalks.
Sidewalks are not the place for skateboards. It's not safe at all. Many kids don't even wear helmets. There are places to skateboard like skateboard parks or places where they aren't endangering themselves or others.

Kids should skateboard in skateboard parks. That is all.
