Unless President Obama really fucks up, I don't think it matters. Here's a question. Do you think Hillary Clinton will try for the Democratic nomination again?

This Palin hype is like a bad reality show that barely has any viewers, but the network won't cancel. Despite her run-on media whoring, I doubt she will become the Republican nominee. Newt is out too. From that list, I would bet on either Romney or Santorum.

I shudder at the thought that Palin could actually get the nomination. I convulse at the thought that too many Tea Party types could actually get her elected. She is just...unworthy, to be polite. The only reason she is on the national political scene is because some high ranking Republican idiots thought putting her on the '08 ticket would give them a chance to win. Who the fuck outside of Alaska had ever heard of her? It should have stayed that way.

I think Obama already has royally f'ed up. So do a lot of those in the middle who swung his direction last time. I think the GOP has a real shot of knocking him down if they don't put up some old and wishy-washy senator like Dole of McCain. They usually can pull it out with somebody strong.
As for who they will pick, it's way too early to tell. It could be somebody totally out of left field. Whoever it is, they better be stronger than their last pick cause we need a leadership change again.

At this point, I would say Mitt Romney has the best chance. But it's way too early to tell. And I agree, Obama would have to seriously fck up in order not to be re-elected. His approval rating now has been steadily going up since the start of the year.

Who know and who cares really? I think this year is gonna be the year of Obama and he will get a 2nd term. It took 2 years to finally straighten clear off the desk of 8 yrs of repugican Bush crap, while tapdancing around repug senates. Now the real "YES WE CAN" can get underway!

lol The year of Obama? I guess he won't look as bad with a more competent Congress. But this will hardly be his year. He might be moderating a bit to make himself look less radical, but it's only a matter of time until he does something to remind America of his bad policies.
So I think the GOP has a real shot in 2012. They have a habit of picking losers(ie McCain). But if they actually nominate a good candidate, I'd say Obama is toast.

These are all very weak candidates, none stand out. Unless one emerges, I expect Obama to win reelection if the economy is in any shape at all. His being the incumbent gives him maximum name recognition, and the past 20 years has shown that the public is more comfortable playing out the more familiar face, even if they do have a number of unattractive flaws. How the country does over the next two years will determine his reelection chances more than any of those people on that list.

^^^^Some are weak, others I think are strong. It's not as if Obama is a strong candidate anymore. Everything he ran on last time is pretty much gone. About all he has IS name recognition.

Obama is a stronger candidate now that he was a year ago and name recognition counts A WHOLE LOT when it comes to public opinion.

^^^^Just about everyone the GOP is throwing up, sans a name here or there. Although compared to Obama, there isn't anyone weaker.
Name recognition may count a lot, unless people hate you. George Bush has name recognition and so does Sarah Palin but that doesn't mean they'd all win. Obama being stronger now than a year ago isn't saying much, even if it was true. I say the guy's a weak candidate. Everything he ran on is pretty much gone. He can't even use the "Change." I think he's going to have a tough time beating any GOP opponent who isn't an old man senator.(ie McCain or Dole) Everything that got him elected last time is pretty much gone. If he does have any hope of winning, he better not adapt the mindset that his job is safe. This next campaign will be a lot harder than the last one and he's just not as strong as he was in '08.
So it's a wait and see thing for the GOP. If they put up anybody remotely serious, I'd say Obama should consider packing his bags. (Now if they put up another McCain, then they deserve what's coming.)
