Occupations people have that you would never date/marry

What are some occupations people have that if you knew a person had that kind of job, would never get involved with them?

Top of my list is cops, and not because I'd worry about them being killed in the line of duty. But would you EVER be able to trust them? Think about it, they have to be such GREAT actors, you'd never know if they were telling the truth. And THEN, what if they go postal and try to kill you? Who are you going to report it to? His comrades? His friends at the police force who will just ignore it and cover his ass? Who's anybody going to believe between a common citizen and a cop?

Going down the line, other occupations I would never get in a relationship with:

Doctors, because when are they ever going to be home?

Astronauts, same and what if they're on another shuttle that falls apart in orbit?

Military men, when would they be home and what if they get killed in combat?

Anything to do with Wall Street or the stock market or big deals of any kind

There are others but those are the ones that immediately come to mind right now, how about everyone else?

I wouldn't ever date a district attorney or a public defender or a judge.

Defense attorneys, hell no, prosecutors, maybe, but yeah, judges, forget that.

A Resurectionist. They always work the night shift and track mud all over the house.

Ya know, unless they were doing something illegal or he was a porn star.............I wouldn't discriminate dating someone because of their job. I like men with gainful employment. If he's making money and an honest living, does it really matter? And really, you wouldn't date an astronaunt because you're afraid of the 0.000003% chance that the spacecraft may blow up in orbit? All cops are cut from the same mold huh? A doctor? Someone who saves lives? All military men don't go into combat. LOL! And if you're not going to date someone because you're afraid that they'll pass away, then you need to not date anyone and remain by yourself for the rest of your life.

I would. I have little use for doctors as it is, I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life being married to one.

It's not even about that. The notion that they would never be home been can be a far fetched one too. If he's an ER doctor or an on-call doctor...maybe. But a doctor with his own practice don't keep hours like that. Time managment is feasible for everyone. Why on Earth would I have a problem with my man working and making a difference in people's lives? LOL.

I would never be involved with "big shots", like lawyers (or liars, who can tell the difference, right?), cops or doctors. They're all a bunch of a big shots who think they're better than everyone else. I also would never date a porn star or a long-distance truck driver - what's the use of a relationship if one of you is never there?

I've known some prostitutes, not just those I've hired, but friends in New Orleans and they were really nice, usually quite generous friends. One was my neighbor and I was sort of a father figure to her pre-teen son. She was supporting her three kids and her mother in her apartment. So, I would not discount a prostitute - and I have made some porn with one of my friends already.

But that's just me.

Just to be clear, I'm not discounting prostitutes or porn actresses because of their profession. Promiscuous sex between consenting adults doesn’t bother me in the least. I'm not saying I couldn't be friends with them. I’m just an old fashioned guy who doesn’t want other men fucking his wife. But that's just me.

As long as it's legal, I don't see the big deal. And I hate stereotypes. I know lawyers take a lot of crap because some are sleaze but that's true in every profession, from the office to the pulpit. There are lawyers who keep innocent people out of prison too & care as much about fairness & justice as anyone else. So I don't care what he does as long as it's legal & he's a good & decent man.

Also, a good friend of my husband's is a public defender, and I'm sort of wondering at the comments made here....? I see his profession as a noble one. For every hundred complete degenerate deadbeats he defends, there is one who is completely innocent and usually too dumb or uneducated to defend him- or herself. That's the public defender's target group.

I agree, hypothetical is just dandy until you meet the right person, then all that stuff goes out the window or is rationalized.

This might sound weird but I would never date anybody whose career is in the science and engineering field. When I was high school, I had a biology teacher who was a major asshole and our school favored kids that were good at science. In a way I have always had some envy of people who are good at math and science. Some of my friends work in the science and engineering field which I'm cool with. But I would never date someone in those fields.

I wouldn't rule anyone out based on their job, but that's just me. As long as he could make it work while meeting all my needs, that's all I care about.
