    Maybe it is easy for me to say, since my work computer is my own, but I don't think I would ever be able to visit personal sites like this and FB during work hours. I would be too worried about them sneaking in and seeing what I am doing. Even if I only did so during lunch, off the clock.

    I have a couple friends who do personal emails through their work email and I don't understand that. I would really fear those being read.

    So do you have concern for logging in during work hours, or doesn't it phase you?

    Not really. I'm at work right now. Some of the computers here do not allow access to any commercial website, they're blocked; but others do. Of course they discourage us from going to any non-work related site and half heartedly threaten that our computers are being "monitored," but I doubt that's true (and if it is, then I doubt that they care that much) because everyone and their brother pulls up commercial sites at their cubical. Naturally their biggest issue is porn.

    Maybe you read my post on another thread about my boss recently blocking social network sites like facebook & MySpace and porn sites like Literotica and Foot Buddies on our work computers. They found about 4 employees on facebook one day so they blocked them.

    I am at lunch now and logged on here, which hasn't yet been blocked. I am very out at work - the admin knows I am a nudist, and make love to young men. I do know that they can spy on me and have every right to do so while I am on their computer at work. But they can search my real name and see evidence of all my unconventionality without checking the servers here at work.

    I do not identify my company or make disparaging remarks about it on facebook, because that is a fireable offense. (It actually happened to a co-worker who is now one of m facebook friends). So, unless it can result in my losing my job I don't care what the admin here sees me putting on this site & Hip Forums - about the only two I continue to have access to from work.

    Yeah, Shale, your post is what reminded me of this topic. I have asked the same question before on another forum and was very surprised by the general consensus in that people think that their bosses know the time they spend on personal sites online, but believe the bosses don't really care. I would think that things like FB eat a ton of man hours, yet so many seem to check FB at work non stop.

    My boss openly watches porn all day and sometimes I'm in charge of finding all the crap he's downloaded and telling him to delete it. So, yeah, I'm not worried about it. Razz

    But I will say that the first week on my school's internet in Germany, I was too paranoid about porn.

    So long as it isn't porn and we aren't letting it distract from our work, they don't too much care about us going to websites that aren't work related.

    It's not an issue at my job; I'm pretty much free to go to any site I wish. I do, though, tend to shy away from any that are inappropriate.

    I would go online at work sometimes, but the damn computer on my job is so damn slow that I don't even bother.

    The computers are my job are slow and don't give us access to outside commercial websites.

    IDK how much access my IT guy has remotely and every time he has to log onto my computer as me, he asks for my password. But assuming he can log on as me - then hit the Internet feature, my Earthlink home page is prominently displayed. AND, he needs no other password from my computer (or maybe even the server IDK)

    I left all the doors unlocked when I let all those cute cookies in. big hugz

    So, he can just click all my favorites to see what I've been up to. (Except my porn & social network sites are now blocked by the system). I don't think it would be worth anyone's time to access that - tho they could also post as me. Shocked

    Luckily, the IT guy is a cute little gay black boy whom I've already made advances to(rebuffed - he ain't a perv into old grampas). So, still not worried - don't plan to run for public office and all my porn on MY ISP HOMEPAGE is legal. Just something to think about.
