Trapped between Friends

Has there ever been a time you were caught in the middle of 2 friends who were competing against each other for your attention?

Nah that's some high school shit right there, I don't have time for people's petty jealousies.

Oh, hell yeah, and it is crazy.

For me it has been centered around my son's sport...he is pretty decent at it, and so as a family we are pretty known within it. Countless times people have beat themselves up to try to get thisclose to us for that reason. So, it has been a pretty easy measure to weed out people on the fringe of friendship.

Despite that, people plan events on the same weekend day just to see where we RSVP to. That is just batty to me, but that has happened so much that we don't go much, just host.

When I was in high school I quasi-caught in between a girlfriend and one of my friends. They didn't like each other at all. Once when my friend came around, she whispered under her breath "ugly boy....ugly boy....ugly boy...." Then later on that day he asked me why I was with, and said SHE was ugly. It was kinda funny.
