I think NyStyle might have it right. There are still people who ask me why I left Hawaii to come to the U.S. For REAL!
In 1961, Hawaii had only been a state for two years. Maybe the anti-Obama crowd had their dates wrong and was hoping it wouldn't count if he was born there prior to statehood. My dad's birth certificate says "U.S. Territory of Hawaii" or something like that (he was born in '41). Do territories count? What if someone was born on Guam? Could they run for President?

Yet they continue to come up with excuse after excuse why Obama can't be president. Remember when there was a slight flub at the swearing in & they tried to use that? It's absolutely disgusting that people are so stupid as to think he wasn't born in this country. The fact that he was born in this country was established long, long ago or else he wouldn't have become president. Do these stupid Republicans think that U.S. citizenship is proven after he was elected president?
The reason why his U.S. citizenship is questioned by Republicans is they cannot stand that a black man holds the highest office in this country. In short, a black man is in charge, instead of the other way around (like it always used to be way back when), and they can't stand it. I can't believe this turned into such a media obsession. Has any other president ever been scrutinized over what was on their birth certificate? They wanted so bad for it to read that he was born in Syria, Afghanistan, Nigeria, or even Canada.

That's just sad! In Canada, the person who held the highest position in our country a few years ago was from Haiti and she was a women. It certainly didn't seem to matter to anyone I talked to that she was Black or that she was a women. The Governor General, the Queen's Representative, is the highest position in our government. Michaëlle Jean served a five-year term and stepped down last year. She was very well received. I was disappointed she wasn't able to serve a second term, but the GG's usually just serve one term.

Trump chuckled at some of the earlier jokes, but was clearly less amused as comedian Seth Meyers picked up where Obama left off.
