| If a man would prefer that his wife not work, but instead be the traditional homemaker and mother, would you consider him a sexist? | |

| I think it's sexist to think such a man is sexist. | |

Probably, but everyone is entitled to have the kind of home/life partner they prefer, so if he wants his wife barefooted and pregnant all the time, and if she's ok with that, then more power to them.

That is pretty much what it comes down to and there are a lot of ppl both men and women who live that way.

| My initial thought would be that he is.....but if his woman is cool with it, then it's whatever. Some women like being submissive and want their man to take care of them. Whatever floats your boat. | |

| Well let's turn that around because the opposite is true too, what about women who want stay-at-home husbands? | |

Then they shouldn't marry men who want a career. Just like those men shouldn't marry women who want careers.

Except it's not so black and white as that anymore, every day at-home businesses are becoming a bigger and bigger thing than they used to be. And my mother stayed home to homeschool us but she also worked for the radio station, the newspaper and did medical transcribing at home.

| As to Chris' question, it is black and white. A "traditional" house wife's job is cooking, cleaning, running the errands, raising the children, etc. Whether one spouse wants to work outside the home or run a home business in addition to the above, while the other spouse just wants them to confine themselves to domestic duties...those two probably shouldn't get married. That's all I'm saying. | |

| If certainly IS sexist. If he wants a domestic, let him hire one. I'm your WIFE not your personal servant and baby dispenser. | |

| If that's his idea of what a wife is supposed to be, then it is sexist. | |

| I don't think so. Sexism is a type of discrimination that devalues a person, based on their sex. I don't necessarily believe that a man who wants a housewife/full-time mom for his kids devalues that role. I think he values it very much, in fact. Not to say he might not be a complete a-hole in other ways, but still. | |
