I saw it on Friday
The opening credits mentioned that this movie was based on the daytime TV Goth soap opera of the same name. I have nothing to compare here because from 1966 to 1971 I was a young man who had more fun things going on in my life than TV.
But, I did run into a guy named Scott whom I often see at these Friday matinees and he is of that generation who were teenagers running home to watch this show and he said it did keep true to some of the characters. (I also read an online review by a guy who was immersed in Dark Shadows on TV and he agreed it was, with some faults, an OK movie)
It was a fun romp and I enjoyed the long scene opening in 1972 - with the Moody Blues Knights in White Satin playing. I was around then and while not watching much TV, I was listening to the music and maybe watched a couple of lava lamps. It was like I had just come out of a coffin into a familiar past.

Dark Shadows was THE reason to get your ass home from school. But from the things that have been said I've gone from being excited about it to very disenchanted to looking forward to it again albeit from a different perspective.

Highlander. I saw this flick in theater in 1986 but had forgotten so much. It was a pretty interesting story. Sean Connery looked great in it.

As soon as the movie was over, I switched to CBS TV and there on screen was Christopher Lambert in NCIS: Los Angeles season final episode Sans Voir. He was some villain beint interrogated.
It was so strange to get off a movie with him for two hours then immediately see him on TV. He looks as good today as he did in '86.

Another movie by Hasbro, based on one of their toys.
This movie is not too popular - yet. Only 35% of aggregate reviews on Rottentomatoes liked it and only 56% of audiences. The criticism was; "It may offer energetic escapism for less demanding filmgoers, but Battleship is too loud, poorly written, and formulaic to justify its expense -- and a lot less fun than its source material." So at this point all you "more demanding filmgoers" can just go.
Now, for all you kids still reading - this film was a hoot. What can you expect from a toy company that brot you Transformers? Totally absurd, total action, easy to understand juvenile emotional displays and if all the fighting the unwinnable war against a superior force that outmatches all our weapons isn't enuf, wait til you see how they finally bring the bad boys down. Exponentially absurd - But fun.

Buried with Ryan Reynolds.
Just had to see how they could make a movie with just one guy buried in a box. Not for the claustrophobic. I found myself aware of breathing.

Men in Black 3
Last night I watched MIB2, just to get into the mood. It was silly and fun like all the MIB movies were meant to be. Here it is a decade later and or principal stars of Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) are still rounding up wayward extraterrestrials and keeping the tabloid believing public neurolized into
unawareness.
A very dangerous alien gets his hand on a time machine and goes back to when he was captured by K so he can kill him and set up his original plan to conquer the earth. When K is no longer in this timeline his partner J has to go back to 1969 and prevent him from being killed. That is when he meets the younger Agent K (Josh
Brolin).
I liked this movie (maybe because I was around in '69). Brolin is very convincing
as a young Tommy Lee Jones. The movie fits with the other MIB movies - only better. There are the usual bizarre CGI aliens in every scene, most of them more humorous than menacing. And, the time travel seems to work out satisfying any temporal paradox.

Yesterday I watched two videos I found in the cheap bin at the used DVD store.
Hair from 1979. It is one of those musicals where most of the songs I've heard for years but first time seeing the movie. Reminded me a lot of Across the Universe.
The other was Burlesque, which I saw in theater and kinda like.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I was worried at first that the movie would be upsetting & it was in places but the ending was amazing & I thought it was a really good story.
