It doesn't come up often, though I do get annoyed when they card me for lottery tickets because I'm in there all the time.

I am 55, but it wouldn't annoy me, but it never happens. Only in official situations, which don't count.

I'm not automatically insulted but it can depend on the circumstance they ask the question. Somtimes the answer is, "I'm old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyway." or just "Why do you want to know?"

It doesn't bother me to be asked my age by somebody I've known a while. It's when I only just met them and it's one of the first questions they ask that it bothers me, because then it feels like you're being judged on it.

Depends on who's asking and what's it to them. Technically, it is a rude intrusion, but I come from a tell-it-like-it-is culture that dropped a lot of the old etiquette.
When I first got on MySpace, where they listed age, I shaved 5 years off and every eve of my B'day would go into my profile and add a year to when I was born. Still, I stayed at 60 for only 5 years. I am on another board that lists my correct age, 66 and has the same av pic which is fairly current.
However, the only ppl who say "age is just a number" are usually under 30.
Age is balding, gray hair, lost teeth, wrinkled skin, chicken neck, joint pain, and a number of other things that are more than a number.

No. Doesn't bother me. I like to tell people I'm ten years older than I really am so they'll tell me that I look fantastic for my age. lol

It doesn't really bother me. Most times it comes up in conversation due to talking about the past or something, so I don't care.

Never ask someone my age their age. That's where the whole "30-something" terminology comes from. It's a question a lot of people don't like to answer.
