I had a few nerd or dissident friends in HS, not really a clique. There was about half a dozen of us called ourselves the Association of Secret Students, who protested saying the pledge of allegiance. More social than political tho.

Not really into that kind of thing but mine was pretty much divided into 3 groups. The "intellectual" prepping for college type, the ones with the rebel flags & gunracks in their truck & the class cutting pot smoking fuckups.

I was invited to join one of the popular clubs but I declined because I wasn't thrilled about cliques.
Some of us band and orchestra nerds decided to get together after school day and jam. We had a great time so we did it a few more times. Before we knew it, everyone in school was gossiping about this "co-ed" group that was hanging out together. We were the talk of the school. LOL.
I still keep in touch with a couple of them.

i was an honors student, but did not fit in with them. I didn't drink/smoke, so i didn't exactly fit in with that group either, and I grew up in the poor section, so I was really really out! lol
