Do women dislike gadget gifts?

I notice that most of the women I know (moms, sisters, girlfriends, co-workers) typically don't request gadgets for birthday and Christmas gifts. It seems like all their gadgets (phones, iPods/media players, etc., etc.) are things they bought themselves. When they want something from you, they request things gift certificates, cologne/perfume, wallets/purses, outfits, earrings, slippers, etc., etc.

Have you noticed this, or is this just the women I interact with?

I got an MP3 player for Christmas but haven't had a use for it yet, besides, the system we used to record music off the computer to download onto it has broken and we haven't been able to get it fixed yet. As far as gadgets go I don't have a lot of needs or wants; I have a tape recorder, CD player, boom box, working TV and VCR/DVD combo recorder, so until one of them kicks the bucket (and that's NEVER around Christmas or birthday time so I have to pay for them myself), I wouldn't need to put any of that on my list. I prefer movies, books, games, candy, and of course gift cards and cash are nice so you KNOW you can get what you want.

Ur right, i dont want any kind of electronics or gadgets for a gift. I want EXACTLY what i want and i dont want extras that i will never use or dont know how to use
I refuse to get a GPS cause i dont want my car calling me stupid and telling me i didnt know where i was going. I picked out the camera that i researched that i thought had the best reviews and features that i would use.

Depends on the woman. Depends on the gadget. Depends on the relation of the giver. Personally, I like gadgets more than flowers and candy. If I tend to not ask though, it's only because most people act weird about giving electronic gifts. They either look at you like you're crazy for daring to request that new iPad, or you have to be SO specific about what it is you want that it's almost easier to just go get it yourself.

I like gadgets. Flowers don't last as long and as for candy....I'll take that too

I think it's just the women you interact with. I will request a gadget gift nine times out of ten. I'll buy my own clothes, shoes, perfume, etc.

I refuse to get a GPS because I'm one of those people still of the mind there MAY come a time when you have to drop out of the picture and what easier way to find out where you are than checking the GPS of your car?

My wife had to put things like an iPod, stand mixer and GPS on her list. I never would have thought to get those for her. If it's something I thought she would really love, I would get it for her but not otherwise. For example, a while back she bought herself the Barnes & Noble E-reader (Nook) with a bunch of gift cards she had been stock piling (she gets those for just about every gift giving occasion). Recently I bought her an accessory for it that she didn't ask for but thought she would like. I was right.

I suppose it depends on the woman. I have a female friend that loves gadgets and can put together an entire home theater system in no time. She says "you have to read the manuals" LOL

I like electronics and digital toys. Would rather receive something I could use. The whole flowers and jewelery thing is overrated.

I love gadgets! But for some things, like a camera, I would rather shop for that myself.

EH..Please give me the gift certificates, perfume, shoes, earrings, etc. I don't care for gadgets.
