Why is that? Somehow I doubt that the kids whose parents DO let them drink and teach them how to do it responsibly and in moderation are the same kids who are guzzling cough syrup so they can get drunk on it.

Would you let your children snort cocaine in your presence? I mean hey, at least they're doing it in front of you right? You can teach them how to do drugs in moderation. LOL.

First of all, drinking anything of an alcoholic nature isn't something that should be encouraged. Alcohol has different reactions for different people and it virtually has no positive health benefits of any kind. You teach your kids how to drive or ride a bike or some shit like that, not how to drink. And alcoholism is a bitch. "Moderation" can turn into addiction and I'M not going to be responsible for you developing any type of addiction....especially not one that's going to kill you. Whether you want to argue that the legal drinking age should be lowered, that's whatever, but as long as it's 21.....none of my children are going to drink in front of me before 21. Point blank.

The way I see it, alcohol is for persons twenty-one and over. The law doesn't stipulate that minors can drink so as long as they are under their parents roof. For as long as my kids are kids, they won't drink (or if they do, they better not do it around me, or give me any indication that it's happening, period.)

    Whoa! That sounds rather severe.

You are aware of the rebellion effect that hits teens. You've heard the cliche "Preacher's daughter is the town whore." The tighter you restrict a teen, the more likely they will do what you forbid.

Now on the bright side, if you want your kid to run away at 18 - sounds like a plan.
