I did. Twice During the last couple of months of his life. 1st time was when he saw my brother (who is his namesake and was his favorite growing up) come home after 5 months of cancer treatment out of state. He visited my father in the hospital and my father broke down and cried just a little bit when he walked in the door.
The second time he broke down and cried in front of just me because he was so frustrated that he could not do anything for himself anymore and he wanted more than anything to go home and he knew that he could not. I had to hold myself back, comfort him, and shed my tears when I left his room. Those were the only 2 times I ever saw that man cry.

Twice. The second time was when he was lying on his "death bed" and realized that he was leaving us. But they were quiet tears, not sobs.

Not a full breakdown and sob, but yes, I have seen him overcome with emotion and shed more than a few tears.

That's the second time I've heard someone use that term tonight. OK, so once was actually hearing it and this time I had to read it but close enough.

Re: Have you ever seen your father cry?
Yes, he was drunk crying and sobbing over my mom leaving him. It was about 5 years after they had divorced. At that point, I was like well, if didn't you beat on her and treated her a shit load better, then she wouldn't have left you.
Yea so seeing hime drunk and crying a damn fool, I was like...
