Re: How is/was your Father?
Somewhere between terrible and he tried a little, though I'm not actually sure he ever tried. Thinking things out was never his strong suit, he just always reacted to everything.

Re: How is/was your Father?
I know he loves me. But he doesn't know how to really be a dad. He's much better at being a grandfather than a dad, and that is all that matters to me now. However, even that skill was severely lacking in my son's week long visit there this summer, so sadly, it will be the last week long visit my son has alone with my dad.

Bald and awkwardly shaped.
Is that not an option?

He tried a little. It could have been worse....but it could have been a whole hell of a lot better too.

My Dad is great and always has been. He's about the best dad you could ask for.

I'm glad you said that because that how I feel about my dad. He's always been great with us children even though he and my other grew apart when we were younger.

Re: How is/was your Father?
Mine was between - He Tried a Little and Fair.
It could have been the era as well. My dad was raised by a man born in the 19th Century and was quite harsh with kids and dogs (My grandfather didn't care that much for me but I was grandma's fave so he had to be nice). I can imagine my dad and his 5 brothers were raised as hired hands on the farm so don't expect him to have innate parenting skills.
However, he was much mellower with his last child (by a woman my age and my bro would have been the age of my own son). So he was more a grampa to his last child and I think he mellowed with age.

Re: How is/was your Father?
Fair. He had very hippie-like parenting ideas, even though he was not a hippie. I didn't have much guidance growing up. He spent more time with me than my mother, because he was a teacher and had summers off, and I remember more conversations with him than with my mom, but he still was not an involved parent.

He is an old school Italian and I would not wish him on my worst enemy.

Re: How is/was your Father?
Between good and fair. He can be selfish and domineering and egotripping, but for the most part he's better than a lot of other fathers I seen.
